SLIM DOWN

              For Summer

DO plan your meals for the week when you are shopping at the grocery (saves so muchPleshette Robertson, CEO & Founder - Sacculturalhub.com time and headache; spaghetti on Mondays (this should last for 2 days); baked chicken with sautéed vegetables on Wednesday (this should also last for 2 days), and T-bone Steak with broccoli on Fridays.

DO keep a variety of fruit in the refrigerator (apples, oranges, grapes, cantaloupe, and strawberries are my favorite)

DO try low-fat yogurt in various flavors at least 3 times a week

DO drink at least 6-8 glasses of water daily

DO bake your chicken, avoid frying chicken (fried chicken is my favorite and all the kids in my family come over to my house when I make it so this one is hard to avoid for me).

DON'T be in rush to eat as you race to the refrigerator when finally getting home from work (as this is me everyday when I get home).

DON’T eat in your bed while watching T.V.; it’s a bad habit and this most likely indicates that you are eating way too late into the night

DON'T drink alcohol at all during your diet plan; it takes at least 5-7 days to burn the sugar in alcohol.

DON'T worry about rushing to end results of "How will I look when I lose 20 pounds?"; take it day by day and enjoy your transition into a new you as it takes time to reach attainable goals.

DON'T wear make-up to the gym as this looks totally ridiculous.

Spring has arrived and it's the count down until the 1st day of summer. What are you doing to slim down for summer? Have you been exercising and watching what you eat. Are you having the cravings for chocolate chip cookies and ice cream late night? Well, I am, and it's tough when you get going on a binge of eating sweets. So how do we slim down for summer in April and May for the hot days to come in June, July and August!  We have to start eating healthy and become committed to exercising at least 20 minutes each day.  Now this regimen is such a cliché in our over zealous diet society! However, there are some changes we can make in our daily schedules that will help us with eating healthy and exercising consistently.  I really hate the term, “DIET”, as it always implies, "How much weight do you plan to lose?" or questions from coworkers and friends "How much weight have you lost".  The phrase “Slim Down for Summer” provides a boundary of guidelines for eating responsibly and exercising consistently (this means at least 5 days week).  So I can no longer visit the candy jar three times a day down the way at my co-worker's office where I sometimes eat 3-5 mini candy bars at a time (now how many calories is that in addition to what I had eaten for the day that I will need to burn at the gym).  No more sending the kids to the store for Pillsbury Dough chocolate chip cookies on Saturday afternoons when my sister and I are watching Lifetime.  No more fried chicken Sundays.  I can’t help it I love food and I love eating!  So as we love to eat, we must learn to at least LIKE exercising!

Remember that we must be good role models for the children.  Good luck with your goals for losing weight and get out to a park near your home and take walk or jog for at least 30 minutes three days week.  Be active and take the family out for fun as there are so many festivals and exciting things to do and places to go in Sacramento.  This issue is loaded with just some of the activities on the calendar of April through July.  Have you book marked Sacculturalhub.com?  Make sure to do so as offer a 24-hour Internet platform of urban entertainment news and our website is updated daily.  CONNECTING people with the FUN and EXCITEMENT of Sacramento is our mission!
