the future. Changing the way we think, requires new behavior patterns so
that we can improve in our personal, academic, and financial goals. I
was scanning through one of my books in my library (which I had not read for
years),
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective
People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change, by Stephen R. Covey.
One of the chapters in this book talked about what they call Habit 4
(of 6 Habits under the Principles of Interpersonal Leadership). I was so
intrigued by the "Think Win/Win" that I wanted to share this
information with the Hub Fans and visitors of Sacculturalhub.com.
What
is the WIN-WIN Situation and why should we practice this type of behavior in
the African American community? Think Win/Win is the habit of
interpersonal leadership. It involves the exercise of each of the unique
human endowments--self-awareness, imagination, conscience, and independent
will--in our relationships with others. It involves mutual learning, mutual
influence, mutual benefits. Effective interpersonal leadership requires the
vision, the proactive initiative and the security, guidance, wisdom, and
power that come from principle-centered personal relationship.
Character is the
foundation of Win/Win, and everything else builds on that foundation. There
are three character traits essential to the Win/Win paradigm: Integrity
(the value we place on ourselves), Maturity
(the balance between courage and consideration), and Abundance
Mentality (there is plenty for everybody). Integrity and
Abundance Mentality are my favorite character traits as these two traits
create an open and lucrative field of opportunities!

you are wise, you can teach others.

you have integrity, you can serve as a role model.

you have courage, you will be strong in the face adversity.

you can imagine what it would be, it can surely become possible.

you can write, provide explanation/justification, and listen, you can
command respect and receive compensation.

you can persuade, you can influence others.

If
we work together, we all flourish!
As mentors and leaders in
the African American community, we must emphasize this type of attitude and
mentality. Adapting the WIN-WIN situation in our day-to-day transactions is
essential to each one of us succeeding in education, business, and our
personal goals.
