GREETINGS in the Spring Season!

I love the Spring as it brings in the beautiful weather of California and also a blossom of new ideas and exciting outdoor festival events.  While browsing my personal home library and my favorite bookstore, Border's Books, I started reading 3 good books.

Girl, Get Your Money Straight!, by Glinda Bridgforth

Body & Soul:  The Black Women's guide to Physical Health and Emotional Well-Being, by Linda Villarosa

The South Beach Diet, by Arthur Agatston, M.D.

These books have given me a new direction for organizing my thoughts about life in the way of dealing with the challenges of managing a budget and also sticking to a healthy diet plan with exercising on a consistent basis.  I highly recommend these two books and would like to place emphasis on how we can achieve positive results with our financial goals and diet plans.   Why am I talking about diet plans and financial budgets? Because they both cause us a great deal of stress which leads to obesity and bankruptcy!  Well to use the word "bankruptcy" is a little exaggerated but it happens.  However, negative spending patterns do lead to falling into deeper debt that you can not afford to pay.

African Americans especially women tend to overspend and overeat which leads to depression.  So how do we begin to solve the issues of spending paychecks before payday and avoiding the old familiar diet intake of high-fat, high-salt, high-cholestorol, and sugar habits.  You must take the steps to empower yourself.  When you get a chance, check out these books.  The South Beach Diet has wonderful and tasty meal plans where you buy regular food items from the grocery store.  My favorite recipes are those mixed with salmon, steamed broccoli and shrimp.  Did you know that if a food item has more than 500 milligrams of sodium per serving, you should not buy or eat it!  This was definitely news to me that I did not know about until I started reading Body and Soul: The Black Women's Guide to Physical Health and Emotional Well-Being.

Take the time to relax and read for yourself about how you can take control of your life by simply following the natural steps of healing old wounds and changing your thinking pattern.  Get ready to change your diet plan and financial goals.  If you are tired of feeling powerless over your diet plan and/or financial goals, seek the wisdom of reading and knowing the solutions for yourself.   What I am learning now from the book, Girl, Get Your Money Straight, is that a holistic financial program helps you to understand your attitudes and identify your behavior patterns.
