It's all about a new start in 2004.  What is your new venture, dream, vision, and or goals for 2004?  As always we begin the long list of to do items of resolutions for the New Year! First, we must be so very grateful that WE MADE IT safely through another holiday season. Although, one week before Thanksgiving our family experienced the tragic loss of our beloved cousin, Gail Morrison, due to Leukemia, we managed to enjoy a family dinner with cousins, uncles, aunts, sisters and our grandmother—the family matriarch. After dinner we camped out in the family room and watched the 4-hour flick of the The Temptations. If you haven't seen The Temptations, you must purchase the VHS tape or DVD today and make it apart of your archives of Black movie favorites.   We also enjoyed a day at the movies with my sister and all of our children. We saw Honey with the very good lookin' Mekhi Phifer, Jessica Alba, L'il Romeo, Missy Elliott, Tweet, and Ginuwine. What outstanding performances and an excellent story line.  A movie that inspired me and my sister to the fullest when it comes to pursuing your dreams and making it reality.

So how do you plan to begin the new year in 2004?  Well you should begin first with one of my mom's best messages of encouragement. Consider JESUS first in your life, OTHERS next, and YOURSELF last in everything you do! Experience the JOY of LIVING in 2004 with making your dreams reality!

We must make a career of DOING what we love DOING most! Five years ago my sister, my mom and I along with three of my best friends (Sonya Stamper, Sherri Bundy, and Techia Haysbert) created the group, W.O.M.B.S. Inc.-Women of Mind, Body and Soul (subscribe to our Sacculturalhub.com Magazine to read about W.O.M.B.S. Inc.).  During this time we agreed that it would be our mission to build a resource center of information for Black Women.  We met several times a week for months discussing and presenting information we had researched and wrote about.

Some of our findings were astounding and we provided each other with a great deal of sister-courage for pursuing and achieving our personal goals. We continued to work individually and collectively to accomplish our goal of building the informational resource center for Black women.

Our group was not successful with the initial goal of building the resource center, but we each achieved great personal success through the support that W.O.M.B.S. Inc. provided. When my sister, our mom and I moved to Sacramento in 2001, we missed our friends very much and our goodbyes to the Bay Area were filled with happy tears as we looked forward to new beginnings in Sacramento.

My sister, Toochie, and I depend on the Lord for guidance when making important decisions as we plan for the new establishment of The Hub in Sacramento.  It's been our dream for the last 3 years to have our very own center of resources offering products and services for the entire family. Y'Envi Hair Artistry Academy will be the first Hub Partner to open its door at a location coming soon in Sacramento.
