Baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson will be one of dozens of celebrities descending upon Sacramento during this weekend’s Wizard World, to be held at the Sacramento Convention Center June 17-19.

Jackson is an American former Major League Baseball right fielder who played for the Oakland As and four other teams from 1967 to 1987.  He won three consecutive World Series titles as a member of the A’s in the mid-70s, and won two consecutive titles with the New York Yankees.  His accomplishments include winning both the regular season and World Series MVP awards in 1973, hitting 563 career home runs, and being named to 14 All-Star teams.  Jackson was also the first major leaguer to hit 100 home runs for three different clubs.  He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1993.

Other celebrities attending this weekend’s Wizard World include William Shatner (“Star Trek” and “Boston Legal”), Sebastian Stan (Captain America), Dean Cain (“Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman”), and Caroll Spinney (Big Bird and Oscar from “Sesame Street”).

Wizard World events bring together thousands of fans of all ages to celebrate the best in pop-fi, pop culture, movies, graphic novels, comics, television, sci-fi, toys, video gaming, original art, collectibles, contests and more.

Wizard World Sacramento is also the place for cosplay, with fans of all ages showing off their best costumes throughout the event.  Fans dressed as every imaginable character roam the convention floor and participate in the famed Wizard World Costume Contest on Saturday night.

I had a blast at the event last year, and met Supergirl, Spiderman, Batman and a host of other heroes.  I also added a few collectibles to my collection.  I’ll be there this year dressed as someone from Superman lore.  I’ve narrowed it down to Clark Kent, Doomsday, or Lois Lane!

Sacramento show hours are Friday, June 17, 3-8pm; Saturday, June 18, 10am-7pm; and Sunday, June 19, 10am-4pm.
