The Black United Fund of Sacramento Valley (BUFSV), the Brickhouse Art Gallery (BAG) and the Sacramento Area Black Caucus (SABC) will hold a 2013 Kwanzaa Celebration at BAG in December.

The celebration will feature African drumming, poetry, music, libations, unity cup and candle lighting ceremonies, a potluck dinner, and much more, all under the theme of Kujichagulia (self-determination), which requires that participants define their common interests and make decisions that are in the best interest of their family and community.

Those that attend are asked to bring a dish for the Karamu (feast) and new, unworn caps, neck scarves and gloves for infants, children, men and women, which will be distributed to local homeless shelters during a MLK Day of Service program in January 2014.

The event will take place Friday, December 27 from 6pm-9pm at the Brickhouse Art Gallery, 2837 36th Street, in Sacramento.
