The doors for popular landmark barber shop, art gallery and performance venue Master Barber & Beauty Shop in Sacramento were temporarily closed Tuesday, July 24, 2012, due to the proprieter of the building beign in foreclosure, according to a recent business email newsletter.
Master Barber & Beauty Shop – which is in the midst of celebrating its 60th anniversary – reportedly plans to re-open as soon as possible. According to the email, the shop was established in 1952 and acquired by Earlie D. Brown and family in 1974. Over the years the shop has hosted art exhibitions and poetry and jazz performances by some of Sacramento’s top visual artists, poets and musicians.
