Oakland’s Skyline High School Theater is showing a screening of the film “GirlRising” this Friday, November 15, to help raise money to support students in their classrooms.
The theater group is looking to sell 1,000 tickets to the screening event, with all proceeds being donated directly to Skyline High School and Montara Middle School in Oakland. The evening will also include local food trucks and and opportunity to vibe with friends and family.
“GirlRising” is a groundbreaking film directed by Academy Award nominee Richard Robbins. The movie tells the story of nine extraordinary girls from nine countries, written by nine celebrated writers and narrated by nine renowned actresses, including Alicia Keys and Kerry Washington.
The screening will take place this Friday, November 15, from 5pm-9pm at Skyline High School, 12250 SKyline Blvd., in Oakland. Local food trucks will be on-hand from 5pm-6:3pm. The film screening will begin at 6:45pm followed by a Q&A.
Tickets for the event are $5 for students, and for adults $10 pre-purchase or $12 at the door.
