Jerry Buss, owner of the Los Angeles Lakers since 1979, died yesterday, Monday, February 18, due to complications from cancer, according to an article on LATimes.com.

The article states Buss will be remembered by Lakers fans for “bringing extraordinary success — 10 championships in three-plus decades” as well as his ability to transform basketball from “sport to spectacle,” with teams that featured the likes of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, and Dwight Howard.
