As America prepares to welcome in the monumental federal Health Care Reform Act, the California Legislature is doing its part by holding a special session this January to work on some of the major issues associated with implementing the reform in California.
Among the major challenges to be worked out during the special session include “the expansion of Medi-Cal and new rules for the insurance market.” Another significant matter related to the federal Health Care Reform is the impact that would result from the transition of health care coverage for 860,000 low-income children from the California Healthy Families program into the Medi-Cal program.
