Youth Speaks, one of the country’s leading nonprofit arts organizations will produce The 17th Annual Bringing the Noise for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 20, 2014, in San Francisco, CA.

Every year, Youth Speaks gathers the community to celebrate the ongoing life and legacy of Dr. King. Our celebration—Bringing the Noise for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.—is not a reenactment of speeches, a slideshow, or a polite revue of well-honed platitudes. It is a showcase of young people from throughout the Bay Area who have written, in their own voices, original works that grapple with the thoughts and work of the man, who are working to demand in their lifetimes—huge leaps into possibility, an ongoing commitment to love like a consuming fire.

Directed by Sean San Jose, this year’s Bringing the Noise for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration features performances by local Bay Area artists including: members of the San Francisco Jazz All Stars, Chinaka Hodge, Dennis Kim, DJ Dion Decibels and Young Gifted and Black.

The event will take place Monday, January 20, 2014, from 7pm-9pm at the historic Nourse Auditorium, 275 Hayes Street (between Van Ness and Franklin) in San Francisco.

Youth Tickets are $5. Adult Tickets are $10. Tickets can be purchased online here.
