BLACK-OWNED BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT of the Month

Elite Professional Staffing (EPS)

Elite Professional Staffing

Jacqueline and Dirk Smith, of Elite Professional Staffing (EPS), 770 L Street, Suite 950 in Downtown Sacramento, (916) 492-6005. Their business specializes in temping, contracting and direct-hire staffing to assist other companies in development. EPS is the premiere staffing company in the area, and is the place to go for anyone looking to either post a resume, or acquire skilled, professional workers.

Question: What are some of the challenges that you are facing as a small business and how are you dealing with it?

Answer: Being a small business definitely has its challenges. EPS is a certified small business with both the State Department of General Services and the city of Sacramento. We stay connected to all available resources that will assist in the business development of EPS. The number one challenge of a small business is operating capital. The second challenge is getting your first client. Developing relationships is very important in this process. Companies tend to utilize businesses they know, however, EPS continues to be aggressive in pursuing upcoming projects and opportunities.

Question: Tell us what job applicants can expect to experience at Elite Professional Staffing that makes you different from other staffing agencies?

Answer: Our job applicants can expect the employer they would want to work for. We take the time to get to know our candidates so we can place them in environments that best suit their qualifications, personality and needs. We check and verify candidates’ references to ensure we place only the most qualified professionals with our clients. We invest in each temporary associate by offering resources that will empower him or her to do their very best work. Our employees are essential to our success. Useful methods for recognizing and appreciating diverse backgrounds, cultures, talents, skills and life experiences strengthen our commitment to diversity by improving the performance and development of our employees and our company. We meet monthly with our on assignment employees to discuss any concerns or issues relating to their current positions. We call this our “monthly roundtable”. We strive to continue ongoing coaching and mentoring, and provide incentives to keep our employees morale at its highest!

Question: Who are your employer clients and what types of jobs can job applicants look forward to working for through your agency?

Answer: Most of our clients are from the small-business sector, however, no client is too large or too small for EPS to provide them with the qualified talent they are seeking. Our available candidates are classified in several different categories. We have administrative and clerical, IT professionals and light industrial staff available. We provide no-cost informational “job talks” to applicants via the Sacramento Works One-Stop Career Centers. Doing on-the-spot screening and interviewing is a bonus when meeting new applicants!

Question:  In three words, how would you describe your staffing agency?

Answer: Only three words is hard, because we feel EPS has so much to offer. If we must choose three words they would be professional, committed and reliable!
