Local Writer/Director/Producer Deon Taylor brings HOLLYWOOD to Sacramento for the internationally released movie premiere of “The Hustle” on July 7th at The Crest Theater in Sacramento, California. Proceeds to benefit the Oak Park WCIC “Playmates Child Development Center”.

THE HUSTLE was filmed in Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento, California in 2007. Deon Taylor Enterprises films most of its projects in Sacramento and has spent $11MM dollars in the community within the past six (6) years employing Sacramento cast and crew, hotels, transportation, restaurants, location fees and city fees. “It is very important to me to give back to the community that gave so much to me” states Deon Taylor, Director/Writer/Producer. “When we film a movie, we employ people from the neighborhoods to work with us and we try to teach new skills to those willing to learn. We utilized local businesses for products and services needed during the production of the film. It was great filming right here at home. We have an abundance of phenomenal locations to shoot any scene you need. We have filmed comedy, as well as horror-movie scenes right here in our own city”. “With so few productions in Sacramento, and no one doing the level of projects we do as independent film company, we fill its our obligation as well as a privilege to premier our film in Sacramento, as well as give the proceeds to The Oak Park Pre-School, Playmates Child Development Center” states Executive Producer Roxanne Avent. “We are grateful for the additional resources and especially thankful that someone who grew up here is willing to give back. About Playmates Child Development Center: WCIC/Playmate Child Development Center, Head Start Program is currently housed in the Oak Park Community Center Complex. The program provides a stimulating environment for learning and focuses on the intelligent, emotional, social and physical development of the child. WCIC/Playmate Head Start Program is a federally funded low-income program for children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old. The purpose of WCIC/Playmate Head Start Program is to provide a comprehensive framework that will increase social competency and school readiness by: Blending Multi-cultural and anti-biased educational curriculum; Fostering development of the whole child; Integrating self-identity, cognitive, language, physical, creative, emotional, and social development; Reflecting and honoring the cultures of children, their families, and their communities.

WCIC/Playmate Head Start Program is currently serves 100 families in Sacramento County The majority of the children from the Oak Park community. The ethnicities served are: Caucasian, African-Americans, Latinos, Hmong, Mien, Lao, Chinese, and Native-American. The languages spoken are: English, Spanish, Hmong, Mien, Lao, Chinese, and American Sign Language.
