Theatre presentation in Sacramento based on (DVD Classic) Ntozake Shange's landmark play -- a breakthrough portrayal of the African-American female experience. Both a joyous celebration of a unique culture and a wrenchingly real portrait of the struggle of an oppressed minority, FOR COLORED GIRLS tells the story of 7 diverse black women. Starring Oscar-winning actress Alfre Woodward, as well as Lynn Whitfield and the playwright, Shange, this performance is the benchmark against which all subsequent ones are judged.
