THE HUB's Homegoing Dedication - Bishop Sherwood Carthen

Homegoing Service for Bishop Sherwood Carthen

The Sac Cultural Hub family was and continues to be deeply saddened by the passing of Pastor Bishop Sherwood C. Carthen of B.O.S.S.-Bayside of South Sacramento church. Affectionately known as Bishop Carthen, he was 54 and had been in ministry for 34 years. In 2004 Carthen started the church, attracting thousands of people to his services. He was also a community activist, engaging city officials, businesses, and faith-based communities to partner together to bring hope to the Sacramento region. The Founder of Sacculturalhub.com, Pleshette Robertson, was personally able to reach out to Bishop Carthen during her "most emotional and person/family challenges" and he was there to "advise and counsel with no judgement."

Pastor Carthen was also a great supporter and advocate of Sacculturalhub.com and THE HUB Magazine, as well as various community events. He acted as MC/Host/Moderator for our Sacramento Community Book Discussion at Underground Books in 2010, and was the MC/Host of the Men's Perspective Panel at the Exceptional Woman of Color (EWOC) conference in 2012. He was also a contributing writer for THE HUB Magazine, contributing spiritual and uplifting articles.

Homegoing services for Bishop Sherwood Carthen will be held at Capital Christian Center, 9470 Micron Avenue in Sacramento, CA on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 10 AM.  There also will be a public viewing on Thursday, October 3, 2013, 4p.m.- 7p.m. at Bayside of South Sacramento Church (Campus 44) 6528 44th St., Sacramento, CA 95823.

We encourage you to browse and archive these links (articles and video) in memory of Bishop Carthen and to see just some of the beautiful comments we received on our Facebook page as it is truly AMAZING how many lives he touched!!
