Join the 6-mile March with over 20,000 residents and visitors.
The March for the Dream begins at 8:30 am at 2 locations in Sacramento:
Starting from Oak Park Community Center and from Grant High School with ending at the Sacramento Convention Center.  You can also join in the March at 9:00 am from the location of Sacramento City College. 


March for the Dream

The 2012 March for the Dream Celebration is today, 1-16-12!
Whether it's your first time marching or your 31st time, we have all the information you need to prepare for tomorrow's event. View the info below to find specific details about the march celebration.

Weather
With a high of 50 degrees tomorrow, there will be nothing but sunshine to guide marchers in the right direction to the Sacramento Convention Center. However, please make sure to bring a jacket or coat to keep you warm. To check out tomorrow's weather conditions, visit KCRA News 3 Weather alerts.

Parking & Regional Transit
Parking will be free at all three start locations and the surrounding areas of the Sacramento Convention Center until 4 p.m. We suggest carpooling with your friends, family, and co-workers.

 

Regional Transit is offering free shuttle service & bus tickets to get marchers back to their start locations. Beginning at 1 p.m. shuttle service will begin to the Oak Park, Sacramento City College, and Grant High School locations. Locate the Regional Transit booth at the Convention Center to get your free bus passes for other RT routes & buses to get you back to your car.

March for the Dream Apparel

The new 2012 March for Dream t-shirts and sweatshirts will be available for sale at each start location and at the Convention Center. Please make sure to bring some extra cash to grab one or two of the new t-shirts. Cash will only be accepted at the Oak Park, Sac City College, and Grant High School locations, however, at the Convention Center credit/debit cards will also be accepted. This year we are offering three different styles to fit your apparel needs.

 

General t-shirt - $10
Women's form fitting t-shirt - $15
Sweatshirts - $25

Family-Focused Events & Activities
at the Sacramento Convention Center from 10 am to 3 pm

 

EDUCATION VILLAGE
Come join us on the main floor of the exhibit hall in the Education & Children's Village! This year, we offer presentations on how to get into college for high school students. Univerisites such as UC Davis, Drexel, and Sacramento State will have representatives ready to answer any questions students and parents might have.

HEALTH & WELLNESS VILLAGE

Take control of your health! Stop by the health and wellness village to meet vendors & learn how to get a health screening. Our sponsor, VSP Vision Care will have their mobile van & booth ready for you, featuring Eyenstein.

 

WISDOM CORNER/POETRY

For seniors who need a place to relax after a six mile march and would like to participate in the activities, come to the Wisdom Corner!  Here, seniors can relax and hear poetry and music, see videos and reminisce about the historic civil rights movement and its many achievements. No reservation necessary. We'll save you a chair!

 

Also, check out entertainment from local Sacramento performers in the talent showcase to enjoy with the entire family.
