So Sacculturalhub.com & THE HUB Magazine are encouraging you to take a special field trip with your children, relatives, co-workers, associates and friends to see the Freedom Sisters Exhibit.  Please take your families to see the exhibit. It's FREE and it is so important for US to expose our children to this type of positive environment and some of the most significant and profound time periods in history that have been achieved by these extraordinary African American women.

The Central Library is open: Tues-Thurs 10-8 pm, Thurs-10-6 pm, Fri-10-5 pm and Sun 12-5 pm. The Freedom Sister's Exhibit is located in the front lobby atrium of the Central library, 815 I Street in Downtown Sacramento.

Get involved and participate in several exciting programs, whose themes reflect the moving spirit of the Freedom’s Sisters Exhibition, through January 4, at the Central Library, 828 I Street, Sacramento, will be presented at the following library branches. The exhibition brings to life the stories of 20 African American women, from key 19th-century historical figures to contemporary leaders, who have fought for equality for all Americans. ART ACTIVITIES - When Do I Stand Up for What I Believe. Create a full-size, paper, self-portrait that conveys your goals and dreams. Your portrait can then be decorated with collage, fabric, or other materials.

POETRY - Sandy Martin: Freedom’s Sisters: Women of Wisdom, Hope, and Courage. Poet and author Sandy Martin incorporates original poems in a tribute to the twenty featured Freedom’s Sisters highlighting the unique contribution of each woman.

SPOKEN WORD & MUSIC - Angela James: My Mama Told Me. My Mama Told Me. The program celebrates the Freedom’s Sisters with spoken word and music featuring stories, handed down by generations, about the Civil Rights movement.

VIEWING HISTORICAL PORTRAITS - Mary Kelly: A Salute to Freedom’s Sisters. Kelly creates historical portraits with a unique oral and visual style bringing to life selected Freedom’s Sisters, including Harriet Tubman, Fannie Mae Hamer, and Coretta Scott King.
