Little Miss Capital City Pageant

Sac Hub's Exclusive E-blast 07.06.09

In Sacramento on Saturday, July 11

The California chapter of the Girls Self- Esteem Program (G-SEP) is proud to announce the graduation of 40 local girls from the Girls Self Esteem Academy.  The girls, between the ages of 4 to 12, will celebrate their year-long dedication to growing self image and self-esteem, through a five step process, focusing on grace, dignity, courage, faith and respect in a Self Esteem Super Bowl.  Along with graduating, some of the girls will participate in the “Little Miss Capital City Pageant”.  The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 11th at 7 pm at the Hiram Johnson High School Auditoriumlocated at 65th and 14th Avenue in Sacramento.

California chapter G-SEP founder, Kandice Kelly explains, “Our mission is to instill in our young ladies, from a very young age, a sense of self-worth and high expectation so they value their inner beauty, their intelligence, and the talents they must develop in preparation for Womanhood.  Our G-SEP mothers, fathers and volunteers are working together toward respectful, intelligent, healthy and successful young women by bringing positive role models into their lives”. One such positive role-model is the pageant’s International Ballet All-Star, special guest performer and International G-SEP spokesperson, NaTalia Johnson.  The New York City Ballerina and former Dance Theatre of Harlem Ballerina will perform at the pageant, and conduct a workshop with the young ladies in the days preceding the event.

Forty (40) area African American and Hispanic young ladies will receive more than $10,000 in prizes for Best Gospel Act, Best Talent, Best Grades, Best Personality, and Most Photogenic.  The Grand Prize winner will receive a $500 savings bond, modeling and personal appearance contract with Maximum Exposure Commercials, free acting lessons, karate lessons, self defense training, free airline travel, and an acting role in a regional television advertisement.

The public is invited to attend the show and may make a $10 donation or get more information by visiting www.littlemisscapitalcity.com or calling (916) 647-3223. The program and pageant are sponsored by The Fathers Resource Center Sacramento youth self-esteem program.
