Introducing Book Author & Pastor Juanita Mason

Interview with Pastor Juanita Mason
Founder of Sacculturalhub.com, Pleshette Robertson, had the opportunity to sit down with Pastor Juanita Mason where she shared information about the challenges but yet exciting journey she has had in writing her first book.
Robertson: What are 3 words that best describe you?
Pastor Mason: Determined, Kind and Giving

Robertson: What 3 words that best describe the book?
Pastor Mason: Anointed, Powerful and Revealing

Robertson: Where did you attend college?
Pastor Mason:  American River College – 1974-Political Science.  I also, attended Sac. State University.

Robertson: What inspired you to write the book and when did you start writing?
Pastor Mason:  As I looked around and saw how some preaching woman sat on their gifts for fear.  While seeing how some people stood in the doorway of the gospel to keep preaching woman from entering into the Holy of Holy, by the preaching of the Word of God.  The Spirit stood up in me and gave me my assignment.  The inspiration came from God, and the Holy Spirit dictated the book to my spirit.  I started November 2007 and finished the end of 2009.  I published the first month of the new year 2010.

Robertson: Tell us about some of the challenges you faced in writing your 1st book?
Pastor Mason:  Having the strength each day to Trust God and to stay encouraged, focused and committed. The research on the subject-it was hard to find positive material on the subject.  It was as if, someone erased the history of preaching women.  I found a lot of negative comments about the subject.  It was hard to face myself in my chapter in the book.  God revealed to me through the pages that everything I had been through in my life was necessary.  The good times, the bad times, the bitter times and the sweet times were all necessary. God revealed to me that He had to allow me to empty out of me, like a grape being squeezed.  This would bring about something very useful my being filled by Jesus for his purpose.
The blank pages-Writers block and dry spells, but, still continuing to press forward in the project. Being locked away with the Holy Spirit as it dictated to me what God would have me write.  Finding preaching women who would give me the time to talk to them and take me serious once they heard what I was writing about.   Finding time to dedicate to the assignment, while staying focus and obedient to the call God placed in me to do this awesome project.

Robertson: How long have you lived in Sacramento?
Pastor Mason:  My family transferred here to McClellan AFB from Mobile, Alabama in 1968, when Brookly Air Force Base closed.

Robertson: What is your next book project?
Pastor Mason:  A book of gospel poetry titled:  “God’s Grace Is Amazin”

Robertson: How do you hope for this book to impact others?
Pastor Mason:  I hope that once read it will help the reader make an informative decision on the issue of a Woman preaching in a Man’s world.  I further hope, that people will stop doing what others do just because they say that that’s the way it’s to be done without any authority.   I hope that preaching women will no longer allow the Word of God to lay still-born inside them or allow it to be aborted due to their failure to obey God, for fear of being alienated by their church, their family or anyone.   I pray that the captive will go free.

Robertson: Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
Pastor Mason:  Standing before the Lord with my face in the carpet asking HIM, what His will is for my life.  2.  Pastor of one of the largest churches in the city.  3.  Feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, and going by the prisons and comforting the bereaved and clothing the naked.

Robertson:  What do you want others to know about you and your book?
Pastor Mason:  I assure you that this book does not come to bash men or any entity it comes to shine light into darkness.  I am not angry with anyone, I don’t want to be a man….I just want to serve God in Spirit and in Truth.  This book is a testimony that If, God can use me....he can use anyone.  This book and I both belong to God, through His Son Jesus Christ.

Robertson:  Who or why should one purchase your book?
Pastor Mason:  Everyone should read this book, anyone who has been faced with this issue as a victim or a perpetrator.   Anyone that has every wonder what is it all about; the young, the old or the seasoned, the saved, and the unsaved.  This book speaks to all ethnicities and it crosses lines.  This book is not about a black and white issue, this book is about an issue that affects everyone in one way or another.  Let me drop this on you the issue is not about God….and then again it is!

Robertson:  What are some books or authors that have or inspire you:?
Pastor Mason:  Daughters of Thunder by  Bettye Collier-Thomas, Women Preaching by Eunjoo Mary Kim, Theology and Practices through the Ages, And Blessed is She: Sermons by Women by David Farmer & Edwina Hunter, A Costly Obedience by Elizabeth Smith Bellinger,  A Book of Love Poetry by  Alfonso Flowers.

Robertson:  Slogan you live by?
Pastor Mason:  "Don't let other people Inspect Your Fruit", "Look out for Sheep with big feet", "Trust God"
