Hearts for the Arts Fundraiser: an event to fund access to the arts for all Sacramento students. Join us to help connect Sacramento’s youth to the arts on Wednesday, February 8, from 6-9 pm. Artists, community leaders and local heroes are being invited to produce a heart-themed piece of art or embellish a basic valentine with their own flair. At the Crocker Art Museum, this month's Art Mix is free on Thurs-2/9 and blends art with Black History Month and Valentine's Day. Dance the night away with DJ Rock Bottom, featuring a special performance by Tina B. and the Sacramento Soul Line Dancers. Enjoy spoken word/poetry/music performances in the Jazz'n Love Lounge, hosted by Sol Collective. Take part in an Open Mic competition and offer up your best love song interpretation. Make African-art-inspired accessories with Betty Davis and Yvonne Warren, and explore works by African-American artists in the Crocker's galleries. Recycling Fundraising Drive/Campaign
The Black United Fund’s E-Waste Recycling Fundraising Drive/Campaign will take place on Sat-2/11 and Sun-2/12 from 10 am to 3 pm. The collection company is All Green Electronics, which dismantles all of the electronics it collects at local sites and locations in the US and does not transport e-waste to developing nations.
