Blind Boys of Alabama Christmas Show with special guests Sara and Sean Watkins Go Tell It on the Mountain Formed at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind in 1939, the Blind Boys worked on the black gospel circuit for more than 40 years until their role in the Obie-winning play The Gospel at Colonus launched them into the national limelight. Celebrated by the Grammys and the National Endowment for the Arts with Lifetime Achievement Awards, inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and winners of five Grammy Awards, they have attained the highest levels of achievement in a career that shows no signs of diminishing. The Blind Boys' holiday spectacular is a roof-raising musical event that features bluesy, gospelized versions of seasonal favorites, old and new, plus a special opening set by Sara and Sean Watkins.
