Black history month won’t know what hit it after Sean King steps on the mic with his left foot then grabs it with his right hand and then shoves it up valentine’s day backside. No disrespect to all you lovers out there but on the 15th we will show why we love to be black because “black is beautiful” and oh yeah “black don’t crack” ooh ooh ooh and my favorite “once you go black you won’t go back”. That being said, Sean King is an extraordinary poet with a gift (or should I say super power) of word manipulation, splicing, wielding and other things outlawed by the U.N. Come to Mahogany Urban Poetry Series and celebrate like you’re at a Marvin Gay concert with lighter in hand while he sings Mercy Mercy.
P.S. If you love Ethiopian food Queen of Sheba is the place for you but you have to get there before 9pm because that’s when the kitchen closes. But honey wine will be served all night.
