The Black Parallel School Board will hold its 4th Annual Anniversary Celebration on February 4 starting at 11am at the Oak Park United Methodist Church in Sacramento. The celebration will feature light refreshments, a review of the group's 2011 accomplishments, and the premier screening of “Parent Power: Education Organizing in NYC, 1995-2010.” Through the voices of parents, Parent Power chronicles fifteen years of effective parent organizing in New York City – organizing that has stopped budget cuts, increased school funding, and led to the adoption of a citywide lead teacher program.
