Art Auction Season Opens at the Crocker
Two events allow attendees the opportunity to enhance their art collections
Sacramento, Calif. – May 16, 2016 –Art Auction Season is under way at the Crocker Art Museum. Two signature events – Big Names, Small Art (BNSA) on Thursday, May 19, and Art Auction, on Saturday, June 4 – will provide attendees the opportunity to acquire works by major artists with proceeds supporting the Museum.
Big Names Small Art (BNSA)
Thursday, May 19, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
A not-to-be-missed event for art aficionados and emerging collectors, BNSA is lively auction party featuring small works of art by big-name artists. Each work measures 12 x 12 inches or less, and all bidding starts at $25. The first silent auction closes at 6:30 p.m., the second at 7 p.m., the third at 7:30 p.m. and the fourth at 8 p.m. No-host food and drink stations are available in the Museum courtyards, and the Crocker Cafe is open in the Friedman Court. Art Auction
Saturday, June 4, 5:30 p.m. to midnight
One of the pre-eminent auctions of the region, Art Auction is an art-filled evening featuring works by the region’s most renowned artists. This year’s event is disco-themed, so don your finest disco-era threads and enjoy a fabulous cocktail reception followed by a gourmet dinner, and exciting silent and live auctions. There are more than 100 works up for bid. Afterward, break out your best disco moves dancing to the music of Disco Revolution. A preview of the works of art up for sale at Art Auction will be on display at the Crocker from the evening of May 19 through Saturday, June 4 and online at crockerartmuseum.org/artauction.
