California Black Health Network (CBHN) is proud to announce that Governor Jerry Brown has signed Senate Bill 4, authored by Senator Lara, into law. The 2015 Budget bill will make undocumented children under the age of 19 eligible for full scope Medi-Cal benefits. SB 4 complements the Budget bill by requiring children currently enrolled in restricted scope Medi-Cal to transition into full-scope Medi-Cal services immediately.
CBHN strongly believes that all individuals should have access to health care regardless of immigration status. Often during this discussion, Black immigrants were forgotten. CBHN continues to be an advocate for the state’s thousands of Black immigrants who will also benefit from this legislation. SB 4 is a step in the right direction. CA Black Health Network will continue working with Senator Lara to ensure that Heath for All becomes a reality in California.
