Christian Comedian Michael Jr. To Play Modesto April 25

Christian Comedian Michael Jr. To Play Modesto April 25

If laughter is really the best medicine, the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto has been transformed into a state-of-the-art health care facility this month.

Last weekend, I laughed so hard my face hurt — literally — during Chad Prather’s show.  No one was off limits with the guy who CNN has called “The Pick-Up Truck Pundit.”

Just before that show, the Gallo Center’s CEO Lynn Dickerson gave a plug for comedian Michael Jr., whom she described as a “Christian comedian.”  He’s bringing his show to Modesto on April 25 at 7:30pm.

In my book, “Christian” and “comedian” don’t exactly go together like peanut butter & jelly.  I don’t find a lot of chuckles in the thought of an innocent guy being nailed to a cross, so I decided to do a little research on Michael Jr.

As it turns out, he got his start years ago in a movie theatre in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  After the projector malfunctioned and on a dare, Michael Jr. got up to entertain the crowd with a few jokes while the theater staff got their equipment back on line.  When they were ready to show the film minutes later, the audience demanded that Michael Jr. keep going and, as they say, a star was born.

Michael Jr.’s new show combines comedy with self help elements.  According to the Gallo Center’s site, “With comedy as the vehicle, and purpose the destination, you will laugh in such a way that will inspire you to look inside and ask, “What am I called to deliver?”

Check him out.

With the Gallo Center’s track record for outstanding comedy shows, Michael Jr. sounds like he’s a guy who’s worth checking out.
