With over 10 years of experience in styling hair, Kali (at the time six months pregnant with her third child) immediately landed a position at Another Look Beauty and Barber Salon in Sacramento. Soon her clientele began to grow and even her own clients from the Bay Area traveled to Sacramento. For 10 months Kali lived with her sister and her family to save for the purchase of a new home. As home prices started to escalate in Sacramento, Kali was eager to find a house. She purchased her first town home ( 3 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath) in South Sacramento in December 2001. Within 1 year, Kali and Robert purchased their second real estate investment (4-bedroom, 2 bath home with a swimming pool and hot tub) and moved to their new home in Sacramento. Kali encouraged her husband to get his license to be a barber as he continued to show interest in the business. Soon Robert enrolled in Moler Barber College in Sacramento, went onto receive his license and began to also work at Another Look in 2002. The married couple with six children doesn't hesitate to state that to accomplish your dreams is without a doubt full of excitement, struggles, and sometimes there is a fear of failing. Kali and her family joined the Genesis Baptist Church in Sacramento in 2002, where she received a strong sense of leadership from Pastors Tecoy and Ellington Porter. "Their ministry helped me develop a plan - a 'Success Plan' for achieving the promise of God", stated Kali. In December 2003 Kali wrote furiously in her journal and prayed about being in hot pursuit of her promise. One of Kali's journal statements: "He has placed people in my life who have given me great advice and wonderful guidance--which is part of his plan/purpose. Now, with a clear view of my purpose--life isn't complicated at all. Wonderful changes have happened and will continue because God says, "I know what I am planning for you...I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future.
