Should you be apart of the Smokefree Living for African
Americans campaign?
Did you know that as of January 1st, if you are seen smoking in a car with a child 17 years or younger you could get a ticket up to $100! Was there ever a better time then now to quit smoking? Smoke Free Living for African Americans (SLAA) Project is launching a new campaign to encourage African American families to spread love not tobacco smoke. On February 14th SLAA will host a campaign launch reception to unveil the new campaign “Don’t Smoke Your Baby, Don’t Smoke Our Kids”. The reception will take place at the Forty Acres Art Gallery located at 3428 3rd Ave, Sacramento, CA 95817 and is open to the public. Please join staff, advisory members and key opinion leaders as we celebrate the new campaign. Attendees will receive free posters for placement in our homes, community centers, beauty and barber shops or anywhere visible to those who need encouragement to quit smoking. Smoke Free Living for African Americans (SLAA) is also hosting free quit smoking classes to help break the addiction to tobacco use.

SLAA is a project of the California Black Health Network. Funded by funded by tobacco litigation settlement funds from Sacramento County, the mission of the Smokefree living for African Americans is to reduce secondhand smoke in the homes and cars of African Americans by implementing a social marketing campaign throughout the target areas of Oak Park , Meadowview and Del Paso Heights. Additionally, the project’s aim is to provide services and support resources to help African American smokers in Sacramento County stop smoking.
