The play, written by award winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks tells the story of two African-American brothers, Lincoln and Booth whose names were given to them as a joke- and their struggles as they learn to cope with women, work, poverty, racism, gambling and their troubled upbringings. The love/hate relationship between the two brothers focuses intently on the sibling rivalry and resentment between them, their haunting past and the shattering reality of their future. Lincoln, who is recently divorced and homeless and master of the con game “three card monte”, is trying to abandon his life of crime while his younger brother Booth, a petty thief, strives to emulate his brothers success by learning the con-artist game.
