BET Networks kicks off Inauguration Weekend with ‘THE BET HONORS’ and hosts its first-ever Inaugural Ball. The inaugural festivities in Washington, D.C., begin with the second annual BET HONORS on Sat-1/17 and concludes with BET’s first-ever Inaugural Ball on Tues-1/20. Hosted by world renowned actress Gabrielle Union, THE BET HONORS will celebrate legendary songstress Mary J. Blige (Entertainment), groundbreaking filmmaker Tyler Perry (Media), celebrated dancer and choreographer Judith Jamison (Education), businessman, philanthropist and basketball legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson (Corporate Citizen), entrepreneur extraordinaire B. Smith (Entrepreneur), and the Honorable Congressman James E. Clyburn (Public Service). The second annual event will take place at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C., on Sat-1/17 and premiere on the network during Black History Month.
In Washington, it’s the 2009 Inaugural Praise Ball, a unique formal event that celebrates the induction of our in-coming President and the millions of people-of-faith who campaigned, believed and prayed for change. The Praise Ball, fittingly themed “Yes, God Did!” will include appearances by celebrity and political guests, and performances by Lady Tramaine Hawkins, other well-known Gospel Artists and Gospel Comedy All-Star “King Of Clean,” AJ Jamal. Carrie’s TOUCH is surveying African American breast cancer survivors to find out about their experience with diagnoses, treatment and post treatment to assist with developing programs that will be specific in meeting the need of African American women. The only requirement is that they be African American, been diagnosed with breast cancer, and live in Sacramento. All we need is name and phone number.
