2013 was a great year for Indivizible. We made key strides in our three focus areas of educational achievement, economic empowerment and political influence. As a community we also built a membership base of over 930 paid members. In the new year we will march towards our vision of becoming the most powerful economic and political force in our country. Financial Aid Roundtable
Are you also worrying about paying for college for your children, grandchildren or other youth you know? Or, do you work with youth at church, soccer and other activities who will need financial help for college? Or are you or another adult considering going back to college? Well, this is the perfect opportunity to learn about Federal Student Aid for college and how you can become a resource for the young people in your life.
With the cost of a higher education constantly on the rise, access to resources for college tuition, books and other expenses is important.
The United States Department of Education’ s Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA) will be in Sacramento to talk about FSA and to do a comprehensive financial aid training. This training is targeting everyday people who work with youth or have youth in their life who want to go to college.
The event is free and will be held at Sacramento State Alumni Center January 7th from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Read more.
Last year, Mayor Kevin Johnson told a packed Memorial Auditorium that Sacramento would keep the Kings. He also announced 2013 would be the “Year of Food”. Mayor Johnson followed through on these promises, and is committed to keeping Sacramento moving forward.

2014 Turner School of Construction
Turner is deeply committed to supporting and expanding the social, economic and educational growth of the construction community though our construction management training program. This program is uniquely designed to enhance the participant’s technical, business, and administrative skills. Individuals enrolled in the program gain insights and meaningful tools that help them target their business for quality and growth while at the same time, develop new strategic business relationships.
There is NO COST to program participants however, participation in the 2014 Sacramento Turner School of Construction Management training program is a commitment to attend a minimum of 11 classes in order to receive a Certificate of Completion.
Selection Process
There are only 40 spots available. Space is limited, so only one participant per company will be accepted.
To be considered, your firm must have actively performed work in the construction industry for at least one year.
This program is only for local, minority-owned, women-owned, disabled veterans and small emerging businesses.
If your company is selected, you will be notified no later than Monday, January 27.
Aldelano Packaging Co. is opening a branch in West Sacramento. Aldelano packages Pringles, Frosted Flakes and Proctor & Gamble products. Locally, Aldelano will employ approximately 50 people including a project manager, supervisors and many laborers who have experience in wood work, pallet repair and manufacturing jobs. Laborers will earn $10 hour. The operational project manager salary is 35K-45K. For consideration send your resume to Don and Charlene Johnson the regional representatives.
The FAA will announce the hiring of Air Traffic Controllers in February 2014. The recruitment process includes a test, background check, and training.
