WCIC 75th Anniversary Celebration

The Board of Directors of the Women’s Civic Improvement Club (WCIC) of Sacramento, Inc., are proud to announce…..

Women’s Civic Improvement Club’s 75th Anniversary Celebration
August 1-6, 2011

The week-long celebration will feature fun and educational activities for all ages, as well as a gala banquet. As we embark on this historic anniversary project, we at WCIC need your help.  We want to recognize living relatives of the visionary WCIC Founders. A book written by Grace Carter-Douglas, THE GRIOT, has the 1st Board of Directors that signed the incorporation papers as:

Elizabeth Jones
Netta White (Sparks)
Viola M. Brooks
Jessie B. Robinson
Louise Anderson
Mattie Moore
Ethel Robinson
Lillian English
Jessie Crawford

YES, THERE WERE MORE. WCIC was a merger of 3 arts and social women’s groups active in Sacramento before 1936, which made it a collaborative organizing effort. If you know and are related to any of these women, please come to the WCIC Open House on April 30, 2011, noon to 4:00 PM, to add their names and the names of living relatives for recognition during this historic 75th year celebration.

For more information, contact Ms. Davis or
Mrs. Acorda at WCIC, (916) 451-8870.
