The California State Fair is without question one of of the jewels of northern California’s entertainment scene.  Having been born and raised in a state that cancelled their long-running state fair a few years ago, I don’t take ours for granted.

That said, even with the value that comes with each admission ticket (free concerts every night, free live shows, etc), simply eating at the Fair can be cost prohibitive for families.

But not on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

From 11am until 4pm on those days, every food vendor is offering at least one item for only $2.  You know I had to check that out for you, as I figured that the “item” would be something akin to a kernel of popcorn or a mimi-popsicle.

Oh, no.

Dole Whip.  A full sized hot dog.  Homemade chili beans.  A cup of corn.  Bacon cheese hush puppies.  Pork sliders.  Vanilla Ice Cream Cones.  And…a drum roll please?  A mini funnel cake!  ALL for just $2 each.  And these are just the options I could jot down as I sipped on my wine slushy.

Don’t judge!  It was hot!  And screw the misters that are all over the place on a warm day.  I’m all about the slushy.

Remember, Taste Of The Fair is only Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11am until 4pm.  See you at lunchtime!
