The Master Barber & Beauty Shop and Nickel n’a Nail presents the 2nd Annual An Evening with Dr. Eugene B. Redmond tonight, Friday, July 12, at the Brickhouse Art Gallery in Sacramento.
Dr. Redmond will celebrate the release of his latest book, “Arkansippi Memwars: Poetry, Prose & Chants 1962-2012.” Dr. Redmond is a poet laureate of East Saint Louis, Illinois, emeritus professor of English and founding editor of Drumvoices Revue, and former chairman of the Creative Writing Committee at Southern Illinois University Edwarsville. He taught at California State University, Sacramento, as a profess of English for 16 years.
Guest poets for the event will include Charles Curtis Blackwell, Straight Out Scribes, Vincent Kobelt, Lawrence “NSAA” Dinkins, Jr., and ISSA. The evenings event will be hosted by Steve “HurriKane” Clark, followed by a Q&A, performance and book signing with Dr. Redmond.
The event will take place at the Brickhouse Art Gallery, 2838 36th St., in Sacramento starting at 7pm. Advance tickets are $7, at the door $10. Seniors and students, $5.
