Sacramento Chapter of National Coalition of 100 Black Women (SacNCBW ) offers scholarships to graduating seniors who meet specific qualifications. The 2016 PSR/Sacramento Scholarship Essay Contest is now open to high school seniors in Sacramento and surrounding counties (Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, San Joaquin, Solano, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba). A total of $15,000 in scholarship money will be awarded to 12 students. The prompt for this year’s contest, chosen by a vote of our members, is the statement, “Peace can only last where human rights are respected, where the people are fed, and where individuals and nations are free,” made by the 14th Dalai Lama on the occasion of his being awarded the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated, Eta Alpha Sigma Alumnae Chapter-A scholarship has been established by the Eta Alpha Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. to recognize and support outstanding high school seniors pursuing higher education. The program provides scholarships to students to help assist with their first year college expenses. Eta Alpha Sigma Alumnae Chapter is now accepting applications for our 2016 Scholarship Program. THE ROSENWALD “ROBBIE” ROBERTSON SCHOLARSHIP, APPLICATIONS ARE DUE: March 31, 2016: This annual award is made to African American students from the Sacramento area community who meet the standards of academic achievement, community service, and commitment to the African American community exemplified by the life of the late Sacramento City Councilman, Rosenwald “Robbie” Robertson. Black Parallel School Board’s scholarship: Application due date is Monday, March 31, 2016 by 5 o’clock p.m. no exceptions. The Black Parallel School Board awards scholarships on the basis of a comprehensive process. Black Physicians Forum (BPF) Medical Student Scholarship. Calling all high school and college students to apply now for Young Exceptional Women of Color (Y-EWOC) Scholarship Competition presented by the Sac Cultural Hub Media Foundation. The goal of this scholarship is to encourage young women of color – African-American, Hispanic and Latino American, Asian/Pacific Islander American, or Indian/Native American – to pursue their dreams through education.
