Big trucks are a big hit with children of all ages. On May 21, the City of Elk Grove’s best and biggest vehicles will be featured at the popular Big Truck Day at City Hall.

On Tuesday, May 21, the City of Elk Grove will host its second annual Big Truck Day event from 11am to 4pm. The free event will feature more than a dozen trucks, large vehicles, buses and construction equipment for kids to look at, sit in, touch and even honk. A representative will be stationed at each vehicle to educate visitors about the vehicle and the profession. Children will have the opportunity to play in sand and fill sandbags, learn about how storm drains work, and have their picture taken with Grover the Elk.

Representatives from the Franklin Community Library will offer big truck-themed story times at 11:30am and 1:30pm. The Elk Grove Library will bring out the bookmobile, allowing families to check out their favorite books at the event. Four mobile food trucks will offer kid-friendly cuisine, including pizza, hot dogs and shaved ice.

Last year, more than 800 participants attended the first annual Big Truck Day. The event is being held during National Public Works Week and is designed to educate children about the role of the City of Elk Grove Public Works Department.

Big Trucks Day will take place Tuesday, May 21, from 11am-4pm at Elk Grove City Hall, 8401 Laguna Palms Way (back parking lot), in Elk Grove.
