COVID CONVOS – The Pandemic Is Over! Except It’s Not

If you had told me over two years ago that I’d still be writing about the virus as we careen toward the end of 2022, I’d have said you were out of your mind.

Last week, North Americans

(I always blanch when people use the term “American” — there are several Americas…)

rejoiced and ripped off their masks after President Joe Biden announced on CBS’ “60 Minutes” that the COVID-19 pandemic was over.

Some destroyed their masks, akin to the bra burnings of the 1960s. Some kept one as a souvenir. Others drank to celebrate, or ran out into the streets to kiss a girl.

And we all have stories to tell our kids and grandkids about surviving the pandemic.

Only problem is, according to the CDC, it’s not over.

Most don’t know that fact if my trip to the local mall yesterday is a good barometer. I decided to roll through Arden Mall in Sacramento to see how it’s changed with the change of the seasons and the gaffe of the President.
