Mark your calendars!  One of the Sac Cultural Hubs valued community partners, the Crocker Art Museum, has announced their advance exhibition schedule, extending through June 2016.  Highlights include the Al Weiwei exhibition in January 2016 and the Andy Warhol exhibition in March 2016.

“The Crocker Art Museum is tremendously excited about the exhibition line-up this coming fall and spring, which boasts incredible artists of international importance,” said Scott A. Shields, the museum’s Associate Director and Chief Curator.  “Albrecht Dürer, Andy Warhol, and Ai Weiwei will all be featured. These artists not only changed art history, they changed the world.”

According to the Crockers official release:

Internationally acclaimed Chinese artist Al Weiweis 12 monumental, bronze zodiac animal heads reinterpret those that once adorned the famed 18th century fountain-clock of the Yuanming Yuan (Old Summer Palace), an imperial retreat outside Beijing.  Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads is accompanied by supplemental historical material concerning the emperors fountain, along with a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the bronzes.

Andy Warhol: Portraits includes examples of Warhols self-portraits, in addition to a broad sampling of the 20th-century luminaries who eagerly sat for him.  Evoking the experience of Warhols Factory, an exhibition interactive allows visitors to make their own Screen Test, bringing to life and making personal a related aspect of Warhols portraiture.
