Disney introduces first Latina princess

Meet Elena of Avalor.

She’s Disney’s first Latina princess.

She’s 16.

Disney Junior announced on Thursday that Princess Elena of Avalor will make her debut next year in a special episode of the Sofia the First series.

And after she has made her debut, she’ll star in her own animated spin-off series, Elena of Avalor, also set to debut on Disney Junior in 2016.

Disney describes her in the release as ” a confident and compassionate teenager in an enchanted fairy tale kingdom inspired by diverse Latin cultures and folklore.”
