Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department and Rancho Cordove Police are asking the public for donations for their third annual Christmas in Cordova, which will take place December 14, 2013.

For the third year, partners in the community have come together to provide assistance for the less fortunate and help many children in the area. Donations are now being accepted for the event, which gives area parents an opportunity to “shop” for gifts for their children. The children are also provided with holiday fun, including a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus and an arts and crafts area where kids can make gifts for their parents. A meal is also provided to families who attend.

There is no cost to anyone who attends the event, and they are expecting 500 families to attend this year.

Today, Wednesday, December 4, the Rancho Cordova PD will be hosting a toy drive at Walmart, 8961 Greenback Lane in Orangevale for the event.

Toy donations can also be dropped off prior to December 14 at the Rancho Cordova PD, 2897 Kilgore Road in Rancho Cordova, any time between the hours of 9am to 5pm.

Additionally, the police department is in need of volunteers for the event, as well as donated hotdogs, chips and drinks, cookies, wrapping paper and wrapping supplies.
