Be part of an area-wide volunteer effort to improve and enhance our urban waterways by taking part in Creek Week 2013, which will take place April 5-13.

Sponsored by the Sacramento Area Creeks Council, the 23rd annual Creek Week features opportunities to enjoy, explore and learn about our local creeks and aquatic life. You will have a great time and feel great about the work you have done to help protect our environment!

All week there will be a variety of activities to support a healthy creek system, including trash and debris removal, removing invasive non-native plants and water quality testing. Some of the week’s activities include Arcade Creek Exploration on Saturday, April 6; Steelhead Creek Beaver Pond Walk on Wednesday, April 10; and Elk Grove Greener Gardens Project on Saturday, April 13.

Then on Saturday, April 13, is the annual Creek Week Clean-Up Day with clean-ups happening in a number of areas in and around Sacramento. And then from 12-2pm, clean up volunteers are invited to join the fun at the Creek Week Wrap-Up Celebration, featuring a picnic, Radio Disney Rockin Road Show, Earth-friendly exhibits, and interactive displays.
