John Legend called it “very disappointing” that his friend Kanye West made a trip this week to visit Donald Trump.

“I don’t think it’s impossible to talk to (Trump) about issues, but I won’t be used as a publicity stunt. I think Kanye was a publicity stunt,” Legend told the French outlet Clique, in a video since published on RollingStone.com.

West made a highly publicised visit to see the president-elect at Trump Tower on Tuesday in New York City, afterward tweeting they discussed “multicultural issues.” The rapper said “these issues included bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago. I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change.”

No matter what the purpose of West’s recent visit to Trump Tower, Legend called the rapper’s backing of Trump a disappointment.
