Last night, Thursday, February 28, Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson gave his “State of the City” speech and announced the “whale” investors he hopes will help keep the Kings in Sacramento, according to an article on the website of the Sacramento Business Journal.
According to the article, Johnson announced Mark Mastrov, founder of 24 Hour Fitness, would submit a bid for the team on Friday, and said grocery store owner Ron Burkle would fund construction of an arena on the site of the Downtown Plaza.
