The W.K. Kellogg Foundation recently named La June Montgomery Tabron to the position of president, making her both the first woman and first African-American to hold the position in the Foundation’s 84 year history, according to an article on Philanthropy.com.

According to the article, Tabron has been with the Foundation for 26 years, and moved her way up. She reportedly feels her modest upbringing — as one of 10 children living in inner-city Detroit — will help her with her new position.
