Blending soul, dance, and community, Oakland is set to break a new Guinness World Record for the “Largest Soul Train Line” on Saturday, June 20 at deFremery Park, 1651 Adeline St. in West Oakland.

Five hundred people are expected to participate in the Official Oak Train Line that will last nearly three hours with non-stop dancing and a live DJ. The Soul Train Line is expected to shatter the current record of 291 participants in Philadelphia in 2012.

The Official Oak Train Line will begin at 9 a.m. Registration is open to everyone who has the ability to dance continually for approximately three hours. An official Guinness World Record Adjudicator will be onsite to certify the new world record.

Those interested in participating can register at www.oaktrain.org/register.html and enter their name into a lottery. A drawing will be held on May 30 at 5 p.m. at deFremery Park. Winners will be posted at www.oaktrain.org and need not be present.
