Laverne Cox is using her visibility to make sure others in her community aren’t overlooked.

The actress/activist was one of the many recognizing Transgender Day of Visibility on social media Friday, but her message went a step further, moving beyond the one-day celebration to the daily traumas that make the event a continued need.

“As an out, visible, black, transgender woman every day is #TransDayOfVisibility for me,” wrote the Orange Is the New Black and Doubt actress, who made history as the first openly trans star to be nominated for an Emmy in 2014.
