Lights of Tomorrow will hold the third annual Miss Natomas Pageant celebrating young women and their accomplishments on June 22 in Sacramento.
Eight young women representing Greater Sacramento schools — Natomas High School, Inderkum High School, Natomas Middle School, Leroy Green Academy, St. Francis Elementary and Sacramento Charter High School — will compete in this year’s contest for the title of Miss Natomas and Junior Miss Natomas. Middle and high school contestants will demonstrate their success in academic performance, community service, and presentation skills.
The pageant follows the structure of traditional pageants, however, the judging criterion emphasizes community service, academics and leadership. Contestants have completed a minimum of 50 hours of community service required over the last 10 months. Gown, public speaking and talen are also factored in. The young women with the most points within each category will be crowned and receive scholarships.
Queens will then go on to represent community youth and the founding organization Lights of Tomorrow at various events and organizations. Lights of Tomorrow works to empower youth ages 11-24 to succeed in life by providing them the tools, skills and knowledge to successfully transition from middle school, high school and on to college.
The Miss Natomas Pageant will take place June 22 from 4-8pm at Natomas High School’s theater, 3301 Ranch Road, in Sacramento. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10.
