The Sacramento Police Department was recently named California Law Enforcement Agency of the Year for 2012 by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
The award was based on Driving Under the Influence (DUI) enforcement and training, overall prevention efforts, and for the number of organized DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols it conducted in 2012.
The Sacramento Police Department DUI Enforcement Team is committed to assisting and training other departments in the region. The department’s relationship with MADD’s California State Office is extremely strong and has led the department in innovative and creative public relations efforts.
Sacrament was also the winner of the 2012 Law Enforcement Race for the Mission in Sacramento, in which the department raised over $5,000 for MADD programs and services.
