Basketball legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson recently launched ASPiRE – a new television network that celebrates the African-American experience.

The network reportedly launched on June 27, 2012, to millions of customers on Comcast’s digital basic tier with additional distribution to be announced.

The network’s show line-up right now includes “Now/Next Music” playing videos from today’s top performing artists like Usher and Beyonce; “Get Lifted!” featuring inspirational and Gospel performances; and “Julia,” reportedly the first weekly series to depict an African-American woman in a non-stereotypical role. Other shows include classics like “Soul Train” and “The Bill Cosby Show.”
