Microsoft recently announced on its blog that Outlook.com — a new web-based email service — is now ready for business.

According to Microsoft, after a six-month preview release, Outlook.com now has over 60 million people actively using it.

So what does that mean for Gmail? According to an article on InformationWeek.com, Outlook.com hopes to move users away from Gmail through a “modern interface that infuses email with social media.”

The article also mentions now that Outlook.com is live, Microsoft will begin migrating Hotmail accounts to the new service.

And here’s a review of the new Outlook.com from HuffingtonPost.com.

So what do you think — will you give Outlook.com a try?
